Membership of the Assembly

The Assembly will meet up to three times per year at the Headquarters of the Association and the members will comprise:

• The 3 Chairs of the Association (past Chair, Chair and Chair-elect), changing roles on 1 August each year. The Chair elect is elected by a ballot of the membership. The Chair and past Chair automatically assume their roles on completion of the previous year’s role.  

12 members elected by the membership of the Association by national ballot, 6 nominated by regions and 6 nominated by the membership, each to serve for a period of 3 years (renewable once), one third to retire each year           

six trustees of the Association (in addition to the already counted Chair of the Association)

 • Up to a maximum of 9 co-options to include representation from special interest groups and standing committees of the Association, to ensure that relevant interests and expertise are covered. Co-opted Assembly members will remain in place for one calendar year at a time with an option to be renewed for a total of up to three years. The right to co-opt to is to be exercised by the three Chairs following a skills audit of the assembly to take place each year. Co-optees have full voting rights as members of the assembly.
