Mars Challenge Workshop

The event will start with Emilio (a physicist at Warwick University who is involved with a careers and space project with local secondary schools) has a good workshop called the 'Mars challenge' which takes about 20-30 mins and is really good fun. It is about building a spacecraft for landing safely on Mars. Attendees need to work out the design that will shock absorb better the landing impact.

Teachers and STEM Ambassadors will have the opportunity to work with colleagues from the Insitute of Physics on how best to embed engineering careers into the physics curriculum at GCSE.

STEM Careers workshop: Medical Physics to Music Festivals: Embedding Careers in your Teaching

Highlighting real world applications of physics and making career opportunities visible in the classroom is important in encouraging under-represented groups, particularly girls, in taking physics post-16. This workshop will explore ideas and resources for embedding careers into your physics lessons and provide information about support and grants available from the Institute of Physics.

The IOP folk will bring along their amazing Marvin and Milo activity cards and you will have the opportunity to discuss these fun, simple and interesting activities with the presenters.

There will be refreshments and the opportunity for networking before and after the workshop.
