Course A - 7th and 8th April, 9th June, University of Ulster, Jordanstown Campus
This course will support you to develop discussion skills in the secondary science classroom. You will be introduced to a variety of ideas and activities for developing thinking skills and interpersonal capabilities in secondary science, particularly in relation to controversial or sensitive issues. This will include using students' own questions as a basis for enquiry and developing the skills of argumentation and working with others within the context of science topics.
Participants will be able to:
- demonstrate increased knowledge of how to manage controversial social and ethical issues associated with secondary science
- implement a range of strategies to promote thinking and talking about science in your own classrooms
- gain confidence in facilitating discussion relating to science
