- Agenda for meeting RSE 14/11/12
-
Folks, The Royal Society of Edinburgh are having a meeting to decide if there should be agroup representing 'learned societies' regarding science education in schools. I have just received an invite to attend. Steuart, you are also welcome to attend if you think it appropriate. I have already emailed back expressing my concern of the lack of representation of GTCS, SQA and Education Scotland. I also expressed my concern about the lack of practising teachers on the list. I attach the agenda of the meeting and will upload the paper prepared from the last meeting to the documents section of this website. Please give me your comments before close of business on Friday 11/11/11.

- Conference 2012 and beyond forward look
-
In September 2010, a sub group of the COG, comprising Steuart Cuthbert, Lauren Boath, Janette Kean, Jenni Rees-Jenkins, Sheila MacLellan (SSERC) and Paul Beaumont (SSERC), was tasked with planning for the transition from arrangements with SSERC in place for 2009-2011 inclusive to arrangements for 2012 (and beyond). Following the resignation of Janette Kean as Region 8 Chair, Neil Taylor, as Chair-Elect, has provided input to the process. Detailed proposals have been discussed by the Conference Organising Group (COG), by the Conference Management Committee (CMC) and an ASE sub group of the CMC. In addition, there have been detailed discussions between Fred Young (CEO, SSERC), Neil Taylor (ASE Region 8 Chair-Elect) and Janette Kean (in her role as ASE Region 8 Chair). Where appropriate the documents have been highlighted to indicate where remits etc have already been approved and are included here only for information.
