Date: Tuesday 1st November 2016 to Wednesday 1st November 2017

Time: 12:00 AM to 12:00 AM

Location : University of Southampton

This is an opportunity from the University of Southampton and University Hospital Southampton to take part, in the highly acclaimed LifeLab project

The innovative, hands-on, student centered learning experience includes:

  • A bespoke PD day for teaching staff and a unique opportunity to meet experts working towards improved future health outcomes.
  •  A fully resourced scheme of work – a series of stimulating lessons which fit within the secondary science curriculum, including student work books and teachers guide. The lessons focus on the science behind the health issues which are increasingly common in our society today, and engage teenagers with how science and scientists work by looking at how examples of scientific approaches have enabled us to gain a better understanding of human health and wellbeing.
  •  A class visit to the exciting, purpose-built LifeLab facility at University Hospital Southampton – during the Lifelab day the students will have the opportunity to experience some of the latest exciting developments in science, enabling them to discover for themselves how the decisions they make about their health and lifestyle now could impact on their future health and that of the next generation. Students also have the opportunity to meet and talk to scientists currently engaged in research at the University of Southampton and gain an insight into STEM careers.
  • An invitation to attend and submit student’s posters to our annual showcase celebration event.
  • The opportunity for pupils to achieve a Bronze CREST Award from the British Science Association and collect NHS Digital Badges.
