Connected to Oxfam's website, this contains teaching ideas, suggestions and information on campaigns.

DEFRA On-line carbon footprint calculator

Education for Sustainable Development

A QCA website for teachers in all subjects offering answers
to their questions on education for sustainable development, with case studies of practice in secondary schools and
guidance on wider school policy and practice.

Encams - Active Citizenship relating to the Environment

Activites, resources and links on the topics of litter, waste and recycling. Though the work of Encams focuses on our
immediate surroundings, these are often linked with global issues.


Freeplay Foundation

Recognising that education, information, health, agriculture and peace are all vital to social prosperity, the Freeplay Foundation works with governments, aid organisations, donor bodies and NGOs to extend the reach of public service through humanitarian broadcasting. The website contains numerous case studies relating to the use the radios and the importance of communication.

Global Citizenship

A portal site to a wide range of resources on the global dimension for teachers of Citizenship at KS3 & 4.

Global Dimension

A database of over 500 teaching resources reviewed by teachers and clearly structured by UK curricula, subject and
pupil age. Hosted by the Centre for Citizenship Studies in Education, University of Leicester, on behalf of DFID.


Global Gang

This is a lively website for students, run by Christian Aid. Its bright presentation, games, homework help and numerous other features make it well worth exploring.


Global Eye

A free termly magazine and website for teachers and secondary school pupils on development issues, topics, news and countries. Published by Worldaware for DFID. All previous issues are online including teachers notes, with example focus case study topics including:

Global Hot Spots (Part of the Planet Science site) (select Hot Spots from the menu).

Science is the extension of the Government's Science Year initiative to increase young people's interest and engagement in science.

relating to global science issues.

This Canadian site seems worth exploring with several areas relating to science and having connections with education.

Monthly science news magazine and online news editorial service.

The Science Museum London

Online materials and links, including a section on science resources for Black History Month in October.

STEP

Sustainable Technology Education Project. Includes a large number of case studies from around the world such as
designing a water balanced railway, eco friendly fashion and is your school sustainable? Most of these case studies
and activities focus on one country rather than comparing and looking at the global implications. Teachers' notes are
available.

UNESCO Year of Fresh Water 2003

2003 was the Year of Fresh Water and this site brings together activities, ideas and developments from around the globe.
The website is available in different languages with contributions from numerous organisations (being led by UNESCO).
Have a look at the proverbs sections for some interesting quotes from around the world.

VSO Network resources for KS 3 Science

This outlines a series of books written by the members of Voluntary Service Overseas teachers network on various
topics including astronomy, housing and soap. Most of the booklets consider approaches and examples from different
countries.

WWF resources

Quite an extensive selection of case studies and materials to look through, including the impact of climate change on wildlife
