Welcome to booksales Physics Ideas and Experiments

The book makes it clear that some of the material, reproduced from earlier editions of School Science Review, may not meet current ideas of safe practice. Teachers who use it must make their own risk assessments, as they would for any new procedure. However, the ASE Safeguards Committee have produced some notes intended to help teachers in making their own risk assessments, and these are reproduced below.

Representing Ideas in Science Analogies & Illustrations
This book was inspired by research into the questions that teachers ask, for example, How do I explain evaporation to nine-year-olds? How can I explain the life cycle to five year-olds? The book illustrates principles behind introducing scientific concepts to children from 5 to 11-years old and beyond. It is based on sharing strategies gained over years of teaching experience, using pictures, models, drama, gestures, and various kinds of analogies to help children make sense of difficult concepts which are often abstract and prone to conflicting everyday understanding. Topics covered include green plants, the human body, materials, forces, and electricity. 0863573312
