ASE awarded funding by Wellcome trust to support the
Primary Science Science Quality Mark award scheme

ASE

The Association for Science Education has been awarded £200 000 by the Wellcome Trust to support the national roll out of the first Primary Science Quality Mark award scheme.

This project, jointly led by ASE, the national network of Science Learning Centres and Barnet Local Authority will offer schools across the UK the incentive and framework to invest time and effort into developing science; improving the quality of science teaching and learning, extending the breadth and richness of the science curriculum and stimulating teachers’ and children’s excitement in the subject.

I believe the initiative is timely, well thought out and capable of having a major impact on science education in the primary phase.

Bob Ponchaud (Formerly HM Inspector of Schools with national responsibility for science, and external evaluator of the project)

The award is in recognition of the successful outcome of the extensive two year pilot project which involved schools from across East England.
