ASE Resources to support How Science Works KS4
Look out for SATIS REVISITED – with support from the Department of Education and Skills, up to 20 original ASE SATIS units are being updated and revised to support How Science Works at KS4. These will be added to ASE’s schoolscience website from June 2007.
All 120 original SATIS units have recently been reviewed by the ASE to assess their suitability for updating to support How Science Works at KS4. These files list Specific Reference and Topic, How Science Works Objective, Specific Learning Object, ASE Reference (original SATIS units, Investigations ‘Developing Understanding’, Investigating the Environment at KS3 and KS4, School Chemistry Experiments etc.) with comments.

Resources to support the new GCSEs
To help highlight what is on offer, exhibitors who
attended the ASE Annual Conference have been contacted
to help establish a better idea of the variety of resources
(existing and new) that specifically relate to the new
style of science GCSE. They were invited to submit details
outlining how they support the new GCSEs, the specifications
and in particular 'How Science Works'. The responses
have been collated into an Excel Spreadsheet and a Word
table.
These documents are available only in the ASE MEMBERS
AREA (login at the top of the home page and select 'Curriculum
Support' in the members Area).
Other groups are also looking at how existing ASE resources
(such as SATIS, the Science Year CDs and Science UPD8)
have relevant examples relating to the new science GCSEs.
If you have comments or materials relating to this,
please email them to info@ase.org.uk
