| Notes for contributors to Education
in Science |
| Education in Science is the house magazine
of ASE and it is sent to all members of the Association
five times per year. It is a professional, rather than
an academic journal, intended to provide a means of
communication between all sections of the membership
- member to member, as well as being an important means
for keeping members informed about what ASE is doing
on their behalf. We try to ensure that the magazine
has wide appeal across the membership covering all phases
of education - early years, primary, secondary and post-16
as well as carrying material for teacher educators,
student teachers, technicians, researchers, curriculum
and professional developers.
|
| |
| The articles in EiS fall into two main categories: |
| |
commissioned articles which may
be contributions addressing topical issues in
science education or the regular features designed
to appeal to particular groups within the membership;
and |
| |
unsolicited articles about current
issues and initiatives, projects and events. |
Letters and short news items are also included.
Contributions are welcome. So if you have ideas, news
or views, or are involved in initiatives which you feel
would be of interest or benefit to other members, then
do please let us know. |
| |
| Submitting material |
| Articles should generally be one page of EiS (700
words) or two pages (1500 words) in length. Manuscripts
should be printed double spaced on one side only of
A4 paper. Please write in a straightforward and economical
style, keeping jargon to a minimum and including only
essential references. Good quality photographs and illustrations
are encouraged. Drawings or diagrams should be provided
on separate sheets at the end of the article and original
photographs should be supplied whenever possible. Please
provide a brief indication of your current position
and any other relevant information to be published at
the end of the article.
Articles normally undergo a refereeing procedure which
takes a minimum of three weeks, so do bear this in mind
when sending in a contribution which you would like
to be considered for a particular issue.
It is the responsibility of the author to obtain permission
for the use of any material for which the copyright
is held by a third party and to provide the appropriate
credit.
Letters should be kept short, ideally less than 700
words. Items for the Notes and News section should be
a maximum of 250 words, plus illustrations when appropriate.
Letters and news may be accepted after the deadlines
below, depending on the availability of space. |
