Thank you for taking part in this national trial of the NAIGS Science Database. The data collected within the trial will be used to determine how best to use a database to share information about a wide range of science issues. The data will not be shared with any groups, or published within NAIGS. If you do not wish to fill in any particular sections within the database then do not do so.
All schools taking part in the trial survey will receive a trial evaluation document. Within this we will indicate the types of analyses the database will provide. For example, we will be able to determine how many schools have unsatisfactory lab facilities, how many schools have technical support during school holidays or how many teaching vacancies for science have had to be readvertised in the last year.
It is hoped that the information collected will inform future policy, development and funding decisions within science education. If the database proves a useful tool in gathering a national picture of current provision, we will determine how often such a survey should be carried out.
Please note that the information gathered will be treated confidentially. The analyses and evaluation documents will not connect individual schools with any data, and no school will be contacted as a result of the information provided.
If you require any further information about this survey,
or wish to make any suggestions, please contact your LEA Science
Adviser or consultant. You may contact NAIGS directly by emailing
liz.singleton@ase.org.uk.
