Dr John Oversby is the recipient of the Royal Society of Chemistry 2011 Education Award for his work on mediating between education research and school practice in chemistry.

He is an ASE activist (recently Chair of his Region and Council Member, presently Chair of Research Committee, Conference presenter. and Honorary Member) and an RSC activist locally and nationally.

He has worked as a teacher in UK and Ghana and as a teacher educator at Reading. He now coordinates a Comenius climate change Network for The European Commission. He has edited the ASE Guide to Research in Science Education and writes regularly for teachers and research articles. He is also known for his international work promoting science education.
