Modelling Electricity

Role-playing the motion of charges around an electrical circuit can be a great way to help students develop their understanding of this abstract concept.

What you get

A number of role-play ideas for modelling current flow in circuits.

An electrical circuit is taped out on the floor (you will need quite a large space) and stools are used to represent components, which create resistance in the circuit. The concepts considered would be taught at the beginning of secondary science, including ideas for parallel and series circuits. You may be able to extend the ideas in this resource into more extravagant role-plays with your students. The resource ideas came from Sue Norton.
