The ASE/NASEN Joint Statement for Inclusive Science
and Special Educational Needs has been a significant
outcome from this collaborative project, encapsulating
the important issues and considerations relating to
inclusion in science. The Joint Statement is included
in this resource.

There are a number of ways that this resource may be
supportive:
- Some science departments are being asked to write
Improvement plans for Inclusion and the provision
for students with special educational needs. This
material will be a useful starting point linking to
numerous ideas and suggestions.
- It could be used to stimulate discussion for departmental
INSET.
- Teachers could use the material as part of their
professional development.
- It could be used as part of the school-based NQT
continuing professional development schemes; similarly
for ITT and school based tutorials for teacher training
sessions with student teachers.
