Developing Skills for Science

Location : Peter Frogatt Centre 02/008, 02/009 Queens University, Belfast Time: 10am – 12.30pm

Cost : £10 non-members. Free for ASE members.

Two workshops with a classroom focus delivered by highly effective classroom practitioners. There will also be a Q&A session providing an opportunity for delegates to discuss any current issues or concerns.

Primary Science Workshop - Maura Hughes

Maura Hughes is a former CASS officer and is now an education consultant. Her workshop will identify essential Science Skills, exploring links with the Thinking Skills and Personal Capabilities Framework and the Cross-Curricular Skills of Communication, Using Mathematics and Using ICT.

Post-Primary Workshop – Helen Dowds & Annmarie Doherty

Helen Dowds is STEM co-ordinator and a Chemistry teacher at Hunterhouse College. She will be presenting ideas on effective note making strategies and some fun approaches to revision techniques to be used in the classroom. Annmarie Doherty is Head of Science at St.Mary’s Grammar School. She will present ideas on how to improve writing skills in Science and their use in Investigative Science.
