Free CPD opportunity from the ASE

The ASE, together with the Geographical Association, have produced a free CPD package to develop the use of evidence in primary and secondary schools.

Based on a plan-do-review structure, teachers will have the opportunity to apply their learning to tackle issues in their own schools and classrooms.

This package is fully funded (by the DfE) and includes access to quality resources from the ASE and Geographical Association (GA) to help you apply what you’ve learned to the classroom.

Key features include

·         ‘plan-do-review’ CPD over one school term, worth £360 per teacher

·         £60 worth of vouchers for your school to spend on resources at the ASE or the GA

·         a focus on knowledge application, critical use of data and construction of evidenced arguments to raise achievement in geography and science

·         CPD tailored to local priorities, delivered through teacher networks

·         support for teachers to apply techniques in their classroom

·         flexible delivery – we can accommodate INSET days, twilights etc.

Support

The CPD comes with a full set of resources to help you roll-out any strategies you want to try in your own school or academy chain, and access to online support to help with any queries that occur as you move forward.

Eligibility

In order to deliver the CPD for free, we need a group of at least twelve teachers, and your school needs to either be in an Ofsted category or a DfE approved area (we can tell you if you are eligible). These teachers can come from a cluster of schools or a MAT, they don’t need to be from the same school.

We can provide an experienced facilitator, or you can send a member of your staff on one of our train-the-trainer courses to deliver it yourself!

99% of the teachers who have engaged in the programme so far rate it as good or better.

Pupils are more engaged, confident they will be challenged and be successful at GCSE and A level…retention from geography is exceptional and results extremely strong.
