About the PLAN Team 

Pan London Assessment Network (PLAN) was formed in Autumn 2015 as a collaboration between six North and East London local authority and independent consultants to explore ways of supporting schools with primary science assessment.

Who we are 

Naomi Hiscock  is a primary consultant  working across London. She provides support for several London local authorities either independently or through STEM Learning . She is longstanding member of the Association for Science Education and is currently chair of the ASE Primary Science Committee. She is also a hub leader for the Primary Science Quality Mark and wrote for the Snap Science series.

Liz Lawrence is an advisory teacher in Barking and Dagenham specialising in primary science, D&T, health and assessment. She is a Chartered Science Teacher, past chair of the Association for Science Education and Chair of the ASE Futures group. She is also a Senior Regional Hub leader for Primary Science Quality Mark and author of It’s not fair - or is it? and sections of the Snap Science series.

Roni Malek works as a Science Learning Consultant for the London Borough of Enfield with Primary and Secondary schools. He also works at the Institute of Education formerly on STEM subject CPD for teachers and currently on the Science PGCE.

Mina Patel is Primary Science consultant for Havering School Improvement Services and Video Conference (VC) consultant for the London Borough of Redbridge. She is a former secondary school science teacher and has recently completed her MSc in Technology Enhanced Learning. She writes a blog about the use of VC for all subject areas.

Julia Weston has been an Independent Consultant, working with projects in Tower Hamlets and various schools and Academies/ Trusts for over 13 years. She drives improvements in science within Tower Hamlets and supports schools through her subject lead project work. She has run training for Enthuse projects in local schools, both individually and in networks. She has also been commissioned to ensure a dynamic NQT programme is delivered in the borough and works across other subject areas with the English team and Maths team. 

Ruth Coakley is currently working in the Department of Education in the School of Law and Social Sciences at London Southbank University. She specialises in primary science with interests in assessment and outdoor learning. She leads the Science and Computing module on the Primary PGCE. .Ruth is also developing a Masters module in Enquiry Based Science in the Autumn Term as well as teaching on other aspects of the Postgraduate and Undergraduate programmes. Ruth is Forest School trained and a PSQM hub leader. Ruth has a Masters in Education that focused on the development of Dialogic Talk in Primary Science.

Nicola Beverley

Steve Marshall now works as a Primary Curriculum Advisor for Barnet Partnership for School Improvement with Cambridge Education (BPSI-CE). He has been involved with Primary Science for over 35 years, working as a consultant in most areas of the subject.
