Full details

An opportunity to hear from Sarah Old from Ofqual and representatives from the main exam boards on the lesson learnt from the first cohort of the new Science GCSE exams.

Keynote Title: Time to reflect on the reformed Science GCSEs

Now that the reformed Science GCSEs have had their first award and teachers are preparing their second cohort of students for the examinations, come and hear from Sarah Old, Senior Manager in the Standards Team at Ofqual. It will also be an opportunity for you to share your experiences of the new curriculum and the first set of assessments.

Personal Biography: Sarah spent 15 years as a secondary Science and Biology teacher before moving to work in the Science Team of a leading exam board for 5 years. While at the exam board, she worked on the development of the new A level and GCSE qualifications. She has been a Senior Manager at Ofqual for almost two years and is now involved in an evaluation program of the new A levels and GCSEs, focusing particularly on the conditions and guidance put in place by Ofqual and how they are working in practice. Away from work, Sarah enjoys reading, the cinema and baking – she has decided to take on all the technical challenges from this season of Great British Bake Off! And is sure her teenage son will be happy to eat the results, however successful!

Sarah will be followed by each of the three exam boards who will highlight some of the issues around the new specifications and the examinations

This workshop will prove an excellent opportunity to get your queries answered and to give feedback on your experiences.

There will be festive refreshments available!
