Science Book Lovers Wanted
27 May 2016
We're looking for members to be part of the review panel for the new ASE Book of the Year Award.
This new award has been designed to celebrate science writing that educates and inspires science learners of all ages. The award will initially be presented at our prestigious annual conference which will raise the profile of science publishing and showcase the best authors to our members and non-members.
As part of this iniative we are looking for volunteers to be part of the review panel to nominate the ASE Book of the Year.
What does being part of the panel involve?
The review panel will be looking for science books that are engaging, accessible and high quality.
All books entered for the award will then be sent out for review by more than one person. Individuals on the panel may be required to review three or four different titles.
Reviewers will need to complete a written proforma for each book reviewed to be returned to ASE by 31 August 2016. Once all reviews have been received and disseminated, the review panel will be required to meet (possibly electronically) to discuss the books and create a shortlist. The date will be agreed later to best suit the chosen panel but must be by the end of September 2016. The shortlist will then need to be re-assessed and a winner chosen by 30 November 2016.
Reviewers must be impartial and openly declare any association they might have to authors or publishers.
