Welcome to this expression of interest form for our Maths in Science programme. You'll be asked to submit your details lower down this page, to join our mailing list and hear more details of the programme in the new year.
With the generous support of the Royal Commission of 1851, our programme aims to support schools in difficult circumstances in their provision of high-quality science education.
What is the Maths in Science Programme?
A free, fully funded professional development programme designed to strengthen the maths knowledge and confidence of science teachers teaching KS4 science. Through expert-led training and practical classroom strategies, the programme helps you teach maths in science with clarity and confidence.
Who is it for?
Teachers of Science at any stage of their career, particularly those teaching out of specialism or who feel less confident with the maths required in science. Priority is given to schools in deprived or hard-to-recruit areas. The contexts provided will be tailored to KS4 science but your learning will be applicable to other key stages.
What will I get out of it?
You’ll build stronger maths skills, increase your confidence, and gain high-quality resources you can use in the classroom and share with colleagues. The programme also supports improved student understanding and outcomes through clearer, more confident maths teaching.
What commitment is required?
We understand how busy you are so we have condensed the programme into five 45 minute twilight sessions in the Spring Term. The sessions will be recorded and available to watch on demand.
We ask that you attend as many of the sessions as you can in person or send someone else from your school to attend.
You must attend a minimum of 3 out of the 5 sessions and watch the remaining 2 sessions on demand (with a short form to complete) in order to satisfy the completion of the programme.
There will be a short survey to complete before and after the programme.
The session dates are as follows. Please note that the times are yet to be confirmed but are likely to be 4.30pm to 5.15pm
The Language of Maths in Science - Wednesday 25th February
Understanding and representing data - Tuesday 10th March
Graphs and Relationships - Thursday 19th March
Calculations in Science - Thursday 26th March
Mathematical Modelling - Wednesday 22nd April
