ECTs’ polymorphous identities: visualising a way to plan career support
Kelly Dockerty, Senior Lecturer and Team Leader in Education, University of Hull
This session shared evidence from Kelly’s Doctoral research (Dockerty, 2023) and practically engage with a small number of volunteer participants in modelling the morphing of identities using audience participation. There was a discussion reflecting on what has been heard and seen, and consideration of what resource/processes might need to be modified or created to support ECTs and their morphing identities.
Please see Kelly’s published article associated with this research - Dockerty, K. (2025). Early career teachers’ identities: polymorphous identities that form, morph, and flex over time. Journal of Education for Teaching, 1- 17. https://doi.org/10.1080/02607476.2025.2530470
Here is a short video of the modelling of the identities as proposed by Dockerty (2023)
