Weather and climate: where science and geography coincide

Sylvia Knight, Head of Education, Royal Meteorological Society & Eleanor Pinches, Education Officer, Royal Meteorological society

In this session, Prof Sylvia Knight from the Royal Meteorological Society gave a wide range of examples of where appropriate choice of contexts in science lessons (and assessment questions) could both help students appreciate the relevance of classroom science to their environment, community and careers and strengthen their understanding of the physical, chemical and biological processes they encounter in geography. Ultimately this could lead to the avoidance of some of the widespread misconceptions about climate change, strengthening climate literacy, climate data literacy and climate media literacy.
