Advanced Microscale Chemistry – Beyond the Puddle

This session was intended to be a hands-on activity but was presented remotely with added videos of the content.

Activities covered were cracking, measuring electrode potentials, conductivity & bonding, molten salt electrolysis, making iron sulfide, ammonia chemistry, electroplating, electrolysis of water, precipitation reactions, magnetism & atomic structure, magnetism and electrolysis.

With each activity a list of requirements was given, a run down of the procedure and tips for good results.

The presentation covered all the required practical activities for A-level biology across all exam boards. Some of the more problematic practical activities were considered in more detail e.g., The Hill Reaction. With each practical activity a list of requirements was given along with the suppliers, and hints and tips for getting the best results.
