Description
The zinc ion in aqueous solution is formulated as [Zn(H2O)0]2+ in a number of recently published A-level chemistry texts. It is an acceptable simplification to assume (at the pre-university level) that the zinc ion exists as an undistorted octahedral hexaaqua ion like the other first transition metal ions.
