Blue Marine Foundation

Blue Marine Foundation is a global marine conservation charity, headquartered in London, on a mission to see at least 30 per cent of the ocean protected by 2030 and the whole ocean sustainably managed. To do this it focuses on (i) supporting the development, designation and implementation of effective marine protected areas, (ii) fighting unsustainable fishing and catalysing better ocean governance, and (iii) restoring vital habitats.

To support this mission, Blue Marine has produced an extensive suite of curriculum aligned resources that seek to ensure a lasting commitment to ocean conservation. Aiming to address the global gap in ocean education, they work to create and disseminate these high quality, interactive experiences, PowerPoints, facilitation guides, lesson plans and learning resources. Available online, these technologically innovative resources provide educators with a wealth of options for developing this teaching area.

Currently, recognising the importance of supporting engagement and connectivity with the ocean, Blue Marine is developing a new five-year programme offering schools across the UK free advocacy film making workshops, fieldtrips and careers talks from their diverse team and project partners. With the aim of connecting learning to real-world ocean conservation, and integrating these experiences across the curriculum, Blue Marine hopes to emphasise the critical role of the oceans within formal education.
