Cosmic Clown

In this activity children investigate the effects of gravity and create a series of force diagrams to explain what it would be like in zero gravity.

Description

Guy Laliberté, the Canadian circus billionaire who founded Cirque du Soleil, officially became the first clown in space. He says he will make the ISS astronauts laugh during his 10-day stay, and produce a web event that highlights the issue of clean water for all.

Children will investigate the effects of gravity upon our actions and create a series of force diagrams to explain what it would be like in zero gravity.

Learning Objective:

-    that gravity is a force which acts upon all things on Earth pulling all objects towards its core

Children will learn:

-    how to draw an accurate force diagram to explain movement of objects
