Science Notes: A simple interactive introduction to teaching genetic engineering
Issue 351 | Page 16 | Published Dec 2013
Description
In the UK, at key stage 4, students aged 14 15 studying GCSE Core Science or Unit 1 of the GCSE Biology course are required to be able to describe the process of genetic engineering to produce bacteria that can produce insulin. This simple interactive introduction allows students to consider the problem, devise a model and then test their model. It has been used as an effective starter for a range of abilities. The level of terminology used in this note reflects that required within the specifications.
