Teacher Developers
National

What is this and who is it for?

Our Teacher Developers Committee are hosting this event looking at how you, as a teacher developer, can support and develop the teachers you work with to ensure their teaching is accessible to all learners.

This professional development will explore and support inclusive approaches in science education (and beyond), to respond to diverse pupil populations. With a focus on SEND, Katy and Lucy will provide frameworks and ideas for thinking and developing actionable adaptive practice.

Katy Bloom is an Associate Professor in Initial Teacher Education with research interests in metacognition, pedagogy and assessment, and a former professional development lead within STEM Learning.

Lucy Sors is a Senior Lecturer and Inclusion Lead in Initial Teacher Education at York St John University, following a career as SENCO, teacher and school leader in Primary Schools. Her research interests include inclusive education, outdoor learning and languages.

Both were part of a Higher Education multi-university academic team that co-produced the QAA Inclusive Education Framework for inclusive practices in HE.

This will be relevant for anyone working with and supporting teachers, for example:

  • A Trust Science Lead
  • ITE tutors
  • A CPD deliverer
  • A Science Subject Leader/ Science Coordinator
  • An aspiring Science Subject Leader

This is free for ASE members and £20 for non-ASE members.

ASE is a charity, committed to making support for science teaching as accessible as possible, we are able to do this through the support of our members.

If you’re not already part of the ASE community, we invite you to join ASE for just £45 a year (free to trainees and ECTs in the first 2 years of teaching). This gives you access to CPD (much is free to members), one of our Journals as well as our resources.
