ASE Teacher Developers is the new name for ASE Futures
On Saturday, our Trustees approved a new name for the ASE Futures group: ASE Teacher Developers.
The remit of ASE Teacher Developers is to support those who work in education 3-19, whose roles include:
- pre- and in-service teacher education
- the design, coordination and facilitation of professional development, mentoring and coaching, whether in school, school groups or externally
- subject and departmental leadership.
The work is led by our ASE Teacher Developers’ Committee, which also acts in an advisory capacity to ensure ASE’s membership offer is informed by evidence to support high quality professional learning.
Claire Seeley and Emily Perry, co-Chairs of the now renamed Teacher Developers’ Committee, commented:
"The ASE Futures group was established to support a cohort of educators who are often under-supported: those who lead the professional development and education of other teachers. Our new name, ASE Teacher Developers, highlights the vital role played by those colleagues and reflects our commitment to work with all ASE members and science educators who are involved in supporting and developing teachers’ knowledge, confidence and expertise.
If you are supporting teachers - whether in a school or through a university setting - we hope that you will find a home with ASE Teacher Developers.
We are grateful to all those who were members of ASE Futures, and those who are now members of the ASE Teacher Developers’ committee, and look forward to continuing their successes."
There is a termly Teacher Developers network meeting. The next is on 5 June 2024 6-7pm, all are welcome.
Our Teacher Developers’ Annual Conference takes place on 21 June 2024.
