ASE are delighted to announce that we have been awarded a grant from The Spectris Foundation* to continue our work to support schools with delivering practical science. An area highlighted in the recent Science Teaching Survey, as in high need of support. The grant will be used to setup a new programme of activity following in the footsteps of our successful ‘Keeping Science Practical’ project previously funded by the Wolfson Foundation.

The programme will aim to address disparities in the teaching and learning of practical science amongst young people in disadvantaged areas by investing in high quality CPD, training, advice and support for secondary schools in socio-economic deprived areas.

Involving a blend of online and face to face CPD, strategic guidance and practical advice, access to an enhanced package of support and resources through ASE membership, the programme will upskill and build the confidence of science leaders, teachers and technicians in the planning and effective delivery of purposeful practical science lessons.

ASE would like to thank The Spectris Foundation for the award and for the opportunities it will offer to support schools with this vital work.  If you are interested in finding out more about the support or would like to join the programme please contact info@ase.org.uk with the Subject Heading 'Keeping Science Practical'.
