Launch of Scotland education reform report

ASE Scotland Chair, Susie Burr, yesterday attended the launch of The Royal Society of Edinburgh 2025: Gaps, overlaps, and challenges: assessing the alignment of Scotland’s education reform agenda with national priorities. This report presents the findings of a research project that sought to understand how Scottish Government’s principal policy areas – as captured by the Programme for Government – relate to each other, and how the changes brought by the educational reform agenda can support their delivery. The results reveal how education and skills policy can be better integrated across national priorities to tackle longstanding societal challenges and secure the best possible future outcomes for Scotland’s citizens, economy, and environment.
ASE members in Scotland, in particular Susie Burr and Stuart Farmer, contributed to this work and the many consultations, through the Learned Societies’ Group on Scottish STEM Education (LSG).
Susie Burr, said of the report, 'The launch and the subsequent discussion was thought provoking. The report itself is ground breaking and the LSG will be using it to continue its work on the current education reforms.'
