What is this and who is it for?
The Inclusive Science Education Group (ISE)
The ISE is a special interest group for educators interested in teaching science to learners with special educational needs/additional support needs. We aim to meet six times per year with a mixture of discussion groups and speakers of interest. The group is built around a mailing list which we use to tell members of forthcoming meetings. After each meeting, notes with key learning points are sent to everyone on the mailing list (whether you attend the meeting or not)
The group is led by Rob Butler CSciTeach, former special school science teacher and now professional development leader, and Dr Jane Essex, PGDE tutor at the University of Strathclyde. Rob and Jane met whilst networking at a previous ASE annual conference and give their time to improve science education for all. As such the group is open to everyone with a connection to science education - teachers, technicians, support assistants and anyone else who wants to learn more.
We hope by attending our meetings you’ll gain skills or insights that will deepen your awareness and understanding of special education needs and leave with ideas that you can put into practice.
Cost
This event is free for everyone.
ASE are a charity, committed to making support for science teaching as accessible as possible, we are able to do this through the support of our members.
If you’re not already part of the ASE community, we invite you to join ASE for just £45 a year (free to trainees and ECTs in the first 2 years of teaching). This give you access to CPD (much is free to members), one of our Journals as well as our resources.
