Included Primary: Bias, Barriers and Inclusive Language
Learn how to use inclusive practice to make science learning relevant and engaging for all learners.

What is this and who is it for?
Included: Primary is a series of 6 modules to develop inclusive practice to engage every pupil with science, using approaches that are relevant across all subject, but delivered through the lens of science. This is based on the highly successful ‘Inclusion in Science’ Department for Education funded programme that ASE developed and delivered. 95% of participants rated ‘Inclusion in Science’ as good or very good, and at the end of the programme 96% felt confident about making students feel welcome in their lessons. ASE have worked with their primary specialists to take the key learnings from this course to develop a programme for primary teachers.
This is for primary teachers and leaders who want to:
- Explore the biases and barriers some children may face and how you can anticipate, identify and remove them.
- Learn strategies to make every child feel a sense of belonging and represented in their learning.
- Reflect on your pedagogy and learn how different strategies can create a more inclusive learning environment
- Bring your community and beyond into your classroom to inspire pupils about their futures.
Cost
£15 for ASE members £30 for non-ASE members
ASE is a charity, committed to making support for science teaching as accessible as possible, we are able to do this through the support of our members.
If you’re not already part of the ASE community, we invite you to join ASE for just £45 a year (free to trainees and ECTs in the first 2 years of teaching). This gives you access to CPD (much is free to members), one of our Journals as well as our resources.
